With an area of 84,805 hectares, the first national park in Slovenia and the only one to date covers almost the whole of the Slovene stretch of the Julian Alps. It is named after the highest mountain in the Julians, mt Triglav (2864 metres), a symbol of Slovenia.
The heart of the Triglav National Park consists of the high mountains ridges and their peaks and the deep glacial valleys. It also contains the springs of two beautiful rivers, the Sava and the Soca.
Unique Triglav lakes valley.
The emerald necklace of the seven Triglav lakes, which spreads along eight-kilometre-long glacial valley in the high mountain karst is centre of Triglav National Park. By virtue of its unique beauty, the valley of the Triglav lakes could also be called the heart of the park. Like the whole of the Triglav National Park, the valley is one big cheerful classroom of geography, geology and biology. This is a word of solitude which smiles in the sun, but is deaf and unresponsive when shrouded in fog.

The cultural heritage of the Park is represented by the settlements which have their own characteristic rural architecture and churches, while nearby are dairy farms and adjacent alpine pastures. The remains of the ironworks, monuments to both World Wars and a battle from the Napoleonic period (at Predel) can also be found within the Park. We can also find some sites of archaeological interest dating from very ancient times.
One of our agencies is located in Bled. Undoubtedly one of the most picturesque tourist destinations in the Julian Alps. With its unique setting – a little church on a small island in the middle of a glacial lake surrounded by high mountains, together with a castle perched on a cliff over-looking the lake – it attracts many visitors from all over the world.
No doubt, situated at the entrance of the Triglav National Park, Bled is a great starting point for outdoor activities of all kinds – and that is where we fit in.
