Exploring Slovenia and its beauties with children.
Slovenia is the green treasure of Europe. A colorful land with untouched natural environment is located on the sunny side of the Alps. The Julian Alps in the north and north-west of Slovenia are some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Europe. These unspoilt mountains offer fresh air for walkers and mountaineers, who come to enjoy the lush green valleys, crystal-clear rivers and the dramatic limestone peaks.
Family camp is placed under the Julian Alps mountain range between two lakes Bled and Bohinj in Bohinjska Bistrica region. Camp, Campers and children are in Danica camping area sleeping in a tent under the stars. Every day in camp is different. On some days we will be on the water, in the mountains, on the bike, traveling around Julian Alps and also learn how to juggle, be a circus man and how to put up an Indian tent “tipi” and totem. Camp is colorful, full of activities, experiences and is different from all the normal days of an average family. Camp includes nature and active way of spending time. Hotels do not interest us, but new experiences do. We will sleep in a tent and birds singing will wake us up.

Itinerary at a glance:
Day 1: Arrive in Bohinjska Bitrica Camp area, cycling to Bohinj Lake and old villages in the afternoon
Day 2: Easy hiking Mt. Debela Peč in Julian Alps in the morning, in the afternoon circus workshop, learning juggling, pancakes party and picnic dinner…
Day 3: Canyoning in Jereka or Grmečica Canyon in the morning, afternoon sport climbing in Belvie climbing area, close to the Bohinj Lake
Day 4: Emerald trip into the hearth of the Julian Alps with rafting on Soča River
Day 5: Savica Waterfall sightseeing in the morning and mini rafting trip from Lake Bohinj, Indian picnic in the afternoon
Day 6: Departure
Activities: cycling to Bohinj lake and in the old villages, hiking in the Triglav National Park on Debela Peč Mountain and discover pastures in the mountains, canyoning in Jereka or Grmečica Canyon, climbing on natural walls of Belvie climbing area, discover Triglav National Park on Emerald Trip, discovering legends about Julian Alps and natural attractions of Gorenjska region, socializing and hanging around with adventure people and meeting new friends, rafting on Soča and Sava River, turning into circus men and learning how to juggle and become an Indian from the tribe FEATHERS AND THUNDER.
DAY 1
Arrival in Bohinjska Bistrica Camp area. Meeting, socializing and getting to know your new home for the next six adventure days. Traditional Slovenian lunch, rest and ACTION. Cycling through nice habitats to the Bohinj Lake. Lake is in Triglav National Park, water from the lake is drinkable and is amazing, nice for swimming and enjoying your free time. Cycling further on through the old villages of Studor and Srednja vas to Jereka village. We will also discover old Bohinj hayracks along the way. Before going to sleep in a tent under the stars, some entertainment with games will take place.
DAY 2
On this day we will head towards Julian Alps and Triglav National Park. Park is very protected, wild and amazing. Hiking Debela Peč Mountain from where all the highest mountains with Mt. Triglav (2864m) and others are seen. During the hike, discovering beautiful mountain flowers, trees and nature in the National Park. Lunch in a traditional mountain hut. Rest in the afternoon, swimming in Sava Bohinjka and circus workshop in the evening. Learning how to juggle, how to become a circus man – fun and laughter after the day spent in the Julain Alps. Day will end with a picnic dinner and pancakes party.
DAY 3
Action day. Canyoning in Grmečica or Jereka Canyon. Passing through the natural pools, narrow and wild paths and discovering unknown places with wetsuit, harness and helmet. Appropriate for children over 7 years old. Those who would not do canyoning, will walk to the Mostnica Gorges with beautiful natural structures and discover a natural elephant along the way. In the afternoon, we will do sport climbing and enjoy other Vertical pleasures. Climbing on natural walls of Belvie climbing area. A special experience for everybody, especially for children.
DAY 4
Emerald trip to the hearth of the Julian Alps. Experience the unspoiled nature of northwestern Slovenia in the refreshing pools and rapids of our mountain beauty the Soca River. Enhance the taste of alpine freshness in the Julian Alps. Re-experience the Soca (Emerald River) front at the authentic scene of Hemingway’s Farewell to Arms. And wish a happy descent to a rafter on the wild river. Places you’ll see: Bled, Bohinj Lake, Bovec, Kranjska gora, Planica, Vrsic Mountain pass (1611 m), Trenta Valley, Kobarid…… and you’ll see more: waterfalls, rifts, mountains and other undiscovered natural beauties. Unforgettable all day trip with a van, train, boat and on foot.
DAY 5
An easy day, getting to know Savica Waterfall and a longer (4 hours) mini rafting trip on Sava Bohinjka River in the morning from the Lake Bohinj towards Soteska. Easy rafting and an easier river, but wild and beautiful nature. Snack on the banks of the river and swimming during the mini rafting Trip. An unforgettable day and a unique experience. In the afternoon we will turn into Indians. Putting up big “tipi” Indian tents, totems and having a real Indian picnic in the evening. Last evening for socializing, entertainment and final overview of the last days.
DAY 6
Unfortunately our discovering Slovenia with adventure activities will come to an end. Final jump to the lake and heading towards Bled and Ljubljana.

Weather in Slovenia and in Julian Alps mountain range in that period is supposed to be sunny and stable, day temperatures in the valleys where Camp is placed are between 20 and 30, in the mountains between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Families who like different holidays in nature and sleeping in a tent. Activities are adjusted for children, who are over 7 years old.
Difficulty level: It is good to be a basically active person. Previous experiences with activities are not needed, activities are personally adjusted and appropriate for children. Especially circus and Indian workshop are a special experience for children.
Camps include pick-up and drop-off at the Ljubljana International Airport (Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport). On arrival days on Tuesday 14.8.2012 at 9am, 11am and 13pm and Drop off all campers and families on Sundays 19.8.2012 at Ljubljana Airport at 11am and 14pm. By request we pick you up and drop you off also in city Ljubljana. Accommodation
Accommodation in Danica Camping area in Bohinjska Bistrica. Camp is structured with tents for sleeping and tents for supply (socializing tent and equipment tent). Link: Camp Danica camping area: http://www.camp-danica.si/en/. If required, we organize sleeping in apartments, but it is advisable that all campers stay in camping area Danica.
Food
Included in camp services: breakfast 5X, lunch 2X, dinner 5X (picnic or ordinary). Traditional Slovenian food and classic barbecue will be served during the Family Camp. Breakfasts will be served between 8.00 and 9.00am, lunch between 14.00 and 15.00 and dinners between 19.00 and 20.00 in the evening. We will have 3X lunch, 2X in mountain huts and 1X in a restaurant, which are not included in the price.
All the necessary equipment for activities during the camp is provided (equipment for canyoning, rafting, climbing, cycling, camping equipment – tent, sleeping mat,…). Campers need to bring along:
• Shoes – walking boots with good tread, waterproofed leather for longer walks and sandals or trainers for relaxing
• Socks – thick, made of wool, coolmax
• Jacket – lightweight, wind & waterproof
• Trousers – long ones, carry a second pair of trousers / shorts (summer) or. 2/1 (zip off)
• Shirt or active underwear – good evaporation
• Mid – layer – warm (fleece)
• Warm hat, gloves – wool or fleece
• Sunhat – sun protection
• Swimwear, travel towel
• Sunglasses, sunscreen, lip salve
• Rucksack – light, easy to fold, strong material, adjustable straps, rain cover for the hiking
• First aid kit (tape, plasters, adhesive, insect repellent,..)
• Other – water bottle, toilet paper, strings, pencils, safety pins, pocket knife, refreshing handkerchiefs
